Great Lake Trail (Orakau) & Kawakawa Bay (K2K) Trail

The Great Lake Trail - Orakau section (red line) now links up with the Kawakawa Bay Trail or K2K (blue line). You can now cycle from Whangamata Rd to Kinloch and on to Whakaipo Bay (via the W2K Trail), if you choose. The trail from Whangamata Rd to the junction of Kawakawa Bay/K2K Trail is about 10.5km.
The Kawakawa Bay/K2K Trail is about 7.6km long (from Kawakawa Bay to Whangamata Stream).  Ride along the lake shore for another 1km to the Kinloch shops, and Domain carpark There are shelters at both trail ends and at Kawakawa Bay.  Toilets at Kawakawa Bay.             GPS data: Jim Lewis.
