W2K and Headland Loop Shared MTB & Walking Tracks Map

Bike Taupo has constructed a shared MTB and walking track (W2K) between Kinloch and Whakaipo Bay.
The Headland Loop track is a 9.76km loop off the W2K track. There are two lookout tracks coming off the Headland Loop track (viewing Whangamata Bay and Whakaipo Bay). The view obtained from over the Whangamata Bluffs is outstanding.
Using a GPS (Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx), the tracks were accurately measured and the trails plotted on both topographical map and orthophoto.
NOTE: There is no water on the penninsula - bring your own. Also BYO loo paper to use in the flash DOC toilet.
There is 027 Cell phone coverage over most of the track.

Base topo data and Orthophoto courtesy of LINZ (NZMS260 T18).                 Map created by Jim's Cartography Services.

If you are starting the track from the Kinloch end please park your vehicle in the Kinloch Domain or along the lake edge by Kinloch Esplanade - not in Boojum Dell.
