Static Maps

These give limited flexibility. They are useful for targeting a small area as you are limited to what you can see on your monitor. The map on the left is a “static” map, but it has two interactive properties.

(a) point hotspot – (often a blob or a symbol). If this feature is clicked on you will be directed to a new web page or a different web site (e.g. accommodation site, restaurant, etc). Click on the “white cross” of QE Hospital on the map. Note how the mouse cursor changes as you hover over the symbol.

(b) area hotspot – click anywhere in the pink area (Rotorua Primary School)
