This trail was the first one to be opened of the Nga Haeranga (NZ Cycle Trail) network. It contains lots of historical features including old railway viaducts (one you can cross), and a disused railway tunnel. The route is well signposted and there are lots of informative signs along the trail. It can be walked or cycled from either end.

This map was originally produced in December 2012 for the Mountain Bike Station in Ohakune. It was updated in 2017 when the business moved into the CBD area and became part of the Vertigo Adventure Centre. They can arrange MTB hireage and dropoffs at the Trail end (Horopito).
